Went out on monday to the Dove Valley to shoot some new images and scope out the venue for my up coming Landscape courses. Thought it would be quite on a weekday. How wrong was i, forgot the kids are off school still, it was rammed. So each shot I took had a long wait to make sure I didnt get any people in. The weather was fantastic for photography, some great colour, and clouds helped create images with mood. Shooting with the Fuji X pro 1 lenses used 14, 18, and 55-200. Along with my usual set of nd grads, helped me get the most balance out of the scene. Tried shooting a little off piste, as I hate shooting the usual suspects. Anyhow great location, and will be a great location to visit with my Landscape tuition groups.

Had a trip down to the south coast last week, so thought it best if I could shoot some pictures whilst I was there. Visited West Wittering beach, crikey what posh sand it has, the whole place was lovely tbh. The sun was not at its best for pictures, but hey ho you have to make do with what you have to play with. The beach huts were rather cool, and the dulux dog well what more could you ask for. Take care when shooting with the fuji 55-200 with sand blowing around, due to the lens barrel extending, I could quite easily see it trapping some inside and maybe causing an issue or two. Still a great lens for shooting with, along with the ultra awesome 14mm I do really love this lens, its ideal for landscapes. The lens gives sharp images without any hint of fallof, well in my eyes anyway. Some pictures of the visit for you to look at. All taken with the Fuji X pro 1 14mm and 55-200 lenses.

Had a few hours out toward Chrome Hill near Buxton, what a stunning place. The hills of Wheeldon, Parkhouse and Chrome dominate the upper Dove valley. With real ridges and outcrops of limestone (coral reef) they certainly have a real mountain look about them. The place makes for a great day out and is rarely busy. I love this side of the Peak district, think it has much more to offer than the popular dark Peak. Less traffic and less tourists !
So off with th X pro 1 2 lenses the 14mm and the 55-200, ideal combinations for Landscape work. Although dodging fierce showers and protecting the gear took some doing, the Fuji just works so well with landscapes. The colour rendition and the detail it resolves just leaves me gobsmacked. All the years I have been shooting images, never has a camera given me such satisfaction in its ability to deliver the files I want.

Having been busy over the last couple of weeks, with the gallery, rock climbing, and a small operation. It was nice to get out into the field to shot some images. It also coincided with new firmaware update v3, so I was keen to try it out in proper coditions. Turned out to be a cracking summer evening, a rarity these days in England, but the last couple of weeks have reminded me of how our summers used to be.
So first thoughts on the firmware improvements, lenses seem to focus a tiny bit quicker the 14mm locks itself onto any point you choose without hesitation. So I shot all these frames in MF wchich activates the focus peaking. I don't have any issues with the chocie of focus peaking colour, even shooting into bright sunlight I could still see the highlighted details quite clearly. One area I have always had trouble with focus is sky as there is usually no contrast point handy. Nailed every time with the new update, clearly see the edges highlighted in the high clouds.
Overall I am deeply impressed by Fuji commitment to improving this remarkable little camera. Although I have heard v3 is being updated as the video function on the camera has a problem since the introduction of the new firmware. I don't shoot video so no problem for me. Anyway some images from the other night.

Went off the other afternoon to try and locate some lavender fields that I have been wanting to shoot for awhile now. After a 2 hour drive we finally found them...............to be not in bloom :(
So on the drive back spotted a distant hilside field, that was a sea of red poppies, must be worth a look. It was windy on the hill, so I tried to shoot one or two frames with a slow shutter and get an impresionist view of these lovely plants. Images were shot using the Fuji X pro 1 with the 14mm and 55-200 zoom. I have read one or two opinions on the sharpness of the 55-200, I'm doubtful that these are from people who own one, but let me say this is one of the sharpest lenses I have owned...period. These are all sooc jpegs, that needed little editing, other than cropping.
